Salty Spaces is for adventurers, for foodies, for dreamers and life-lovers to gather and share experiences, to seek out things that stir the soul.
Hey, I’m Shannon.
Started in 2015, Salty Spaces (formerly Shanndelier) is all about living live with a little more flavor. I believe in chasing after experiences that make you feel something deeply and fully. And I believe that’s what happens when you slow down and take in the world around you a little bit more. What else do I believe in?
I believe Marc Jacobs said it best when he said, “Let’s do what we love, and do a lot of it.” I believe in encountering new things as much as possible, whether it’s a new place, a new dish, or a new idea. I don’t believe that life is all magic, all the time, but I believe that we can all create moments of kairos every day, and that’s what this site is all about. I believe in a life filled with beautiful places, delicious food, and the people I love (and yes, you can find all of those things on Instagram).
If you’re looking to live a full life, I hope you’ll join me as I try to create mine beside you and share about it along the way. Leave a comment, send me an email, or simply come for the ride as a part of the Salty Spaces community.
But why Salty Spaces?
Since I live in Salt Lake City, I thought incorporating the word “salty” into the name of my site would be a nice little play on words. “Spaces” came in later, as I thought about the places that make my life better: the great outdoors, the kitchen table as we gather for a meal, and my home with the people I love.
But Salty Spaces is about more than just a cute wordplay and a satisfying alliteration. It’s about creating a life with a little extra flavor as I learn to slow down, take in what’s around me, and truly experience things deeply and fully.
Like Eleanor Roosevelt said, “If life were predictable it would cease to be life, and be without flavor.”
From my basecamp in Salt Lake City, Utah, I’m living a life of adventure every day with my husband, Colby, and my shiba inu pup, Amaya. Being married to a chef (yes, it’s true, and no, it’s not all fun & games) has turned me into quite the foodie, and Amaya constantly encourages me to climb just a little higher on long hikes. By day, I work as the marketing director for the cutest swimwear company and by night I take to the mountains and this blog. I have a dream to visit as many National Parks as humanly possible and another dream to volunteer at an elephant orphanage in Thailand. I’m far from having it all together, but I’m working on staying grounded and still letting myself chase waterfalls.
Things I love: pepperoni pizza, fall leaves, dance parties, alpine lakes, smoothies, taking photos, Super Mario 64, spontaneous adventures, close friends, grilled cheese sandwiches, mornings, Netflix, soccer games, Harry Potter
I can’t wait to get to know you better!
