Happy fall! Around here, it feels more like winter than fall already, but I’ll take whatever cool weather I can get. Plus, all this spooky, foggy weather will just make October that much better. September has been a pretty busy month, from a weekend getaway in Park City to a quick trip to St. George last week. Read on for my latest updates and recommendations!
I updated my mountain drive playlist this month and it is so good. I’ve taken a couple drives up the canyon with this list of acoustic indie tunes and they have been heavenly. Feel free to follow it on Spotify – I’ll be adding more songs throughout the next month or so.
Some more podcast binging has also been happening. Colby and I listened to a ton of Up and Vanished on our drive to St. George (we’re not done though, so no spoilers!) and I also really loved the episode How to Design Your Ideal Week from Online Marketing with Amy Porterfield. I’ve been getting into some of my business podcasts lately, so if that’s not your thing, no worries!
I just finished We Were Liars by E. Lockhart on audiobook and didn’t love it. I’m also reading Born For This by Chris Guillebeau and so far really liking it! It’s all about how to find the work that will bring you fulfillment and joy. I’m hoping to finish it this week so I can grab something new for our long roadtrip next week.
Like I said earlier, we went to both Park City and St. George this month for some family events. In Park City we did some fun things like watched the Flying Ace All-Stars ski jumping team at the Olympic Park, went boating, and ate the most delicious lobster rolls in the country. St. George was just for one day but we did manage to sneak in a little visit to Snow Canyon State Park!
The biggest adventure I’ve had in the past month was hiking Mt. Timpanogos for the first time. Timp is the second highest mountain in the Wasatch Range (at 11,752 feet) and it’s been on my bucket list for the past two years. I finally convinced Colby to do it with me and it took us around 9 hours, but it was amazing! The cool thing about Timp is that there are so many sections of the trail that are so different from each other, with everything from waterfalls to fields of wildflowers to rocky cliffs. We even saw a few mountain goats on our way up!
Latest TV Binge:
You guys, I am back into the Walking Dead! I got bored of it a few seasons ago and stopped watching, but then I was really in the mood to watch it a few weeks ago so I decided to give it another chance and now I’m hooked again! I still have a lot of catching up to do before the new season starts in October, but I’m determined.
I also got Colby into Riverdale and watched it for the second time along with him. It’s another show I’m excited for this fall, along with all my other favorite shows (This Is Us, The Mindy Project, Modern Family… the list goes on).
Latest Food Obsession:
Is this even a question? Now that it’s officially fall, I am obsessed with any and all fall foods – which doesn’t just include pumpkin. I’ve already made a roast in the crock pot on a chilly afternoon and can’t wait for lots more of those! And of course, every pumpkin-flavored-thing from Trader Joe’s (especially need to go buy the pumpkin toaster pastries) and my favorite Fall Harvest salsa.
This one is super exciting – I think my latest buy was a cooler I bought for our upcoming trip. We’ve been borrowing my parents’ ever since we got married so I decided it was high time we got one of our own, plus we needed one that will keep things cold for a long time. I also bought a few pieces for our Halloween costumes this year, but those will remain a secret for now!
Some blog posts I’ve loved this month!
Achieving Work Life Balance / Confidently Katie This is something I struggle with all the time since I work from home. Katie’s post is full of awesome tips and I definitely need to work on getting more organized!
An Introvert’s Guide to FOMO / Guest post by The Light Owl on Coffee With Summer This post gets me. As an introvert, this is something I struggle with fairly often and this step-by-step guide to understanding and dealing with FOMO is spot on!
Outer Space Celebration / Midwest Mermaid Honestly, this party is goals and I want to make that cake so bad! Once we get back from our trip, I am learning to make a cake. Period.
