When we went camping in the Redwoods last year, it was nothing like we expected it to be. For some reason, I was expecting lots of brown, dry trees and land that matched those trees, but when we showed up to a green, almost jungle-like landscape, I was surprised and delighted. The Redwoods are beautiful and the other scenery that surrounds them is just as impressive.
Bryce Canyon National Park is a true hidden beauty. About four hours south of Salt Lake City, you will find yourself in another world: a world of red rock, strange and enchanting spires, and sights you can’t see anywhere else.
This past weekend, Colby and I took our annual “December is over” trip to St. George, Utah for a little break before life goes back to being crazy. While we were there, we visited one of our very favorite places: Zion National Park. Colby and I have tons of memories here together – I overcame my fear and hiked Angel’s Landing with him, we’ve done the Narrows twice, and we went down at this same time last year and climbed up to Observation Point. Driving into the park feels like coming home and this time was no different.
A few weeks ago, Colby and I went down to St. George for the weekend. It was one of those rare weekends when a holiday fell on a Friday, which meant Colby could ask for Saturday off and we had a whole weekend when neither of us had to work. It was glorious. So we decided to go to one of our favorite places and hike one of our favorite hikes – The Narrows in Zion National Park.
The first time I heard about Crater Lake National Park, I knew I had to go. I’ve been so obsessed with it for a long time; randomly going on spurts when I would spend hours looking at pictures of it on the Internet. It looked so gorgeous, and after visiting, I can say without reservation that it is the most beautiful place I have ever been.
We visited Crater Lake in late May, and when we were first planning our trip for our anniversary, we didn’t realize that there would still be snow at the 6,000 foot elevation crater. I was in a panic when I went to their website to look for a campsite and found that their campground was closed until early June. Luckily, though, I soon discovered that it had opened earlier this year since it had been a light winter and we would be able to get a site.
