Happy end-of-January! It’s crazy that the first month of 2018 is already over. It’s been a good month for me overall, and even though I haven’t been perfect on all of my new year’s goals, I’ve been slowly working toward getting better and it’s been nice to have that forgiveness with myself. Here’s everything I’ve been up to this month!
I’ve been binging some My Favorite Murder podcast episodes while I cook lately and I’m kind of obsessed. I was resistant to listen to it for a long time because of how long the episodes are, but I finally tried it out and I love it! Basically, the podcast is hosted by two female comedians who talk about famous murders and serial killers. If you love true crime, you’ll love this show.
As always, you can check out my latest music obsessions on my Music Monday playlist.
On Sunday I finished Turtles All The Way Down, John Green’s latest, and sadly I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would! I am a huge John Green fan but this one just didn’t touch me as much as some of his others. I’ve also been plowing through the audiobook of A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara and it’s possibly the most depressing book I have ever read. I’m glad I’m reading it, but I wouldn’t recommend it in good conscience.
This past weekend, I tried something I’ve never done before – cross country skiing! I was super nervous because I always hear about how it’s common to fall a lot, especially the first time, but I didn’t fall at all and I loved it. There will definitely be more of that in my future.
I’ve also gotten back on the downhill skis the past couple months and it’s been so much fun. I grew up skiing but I haven’t done it much as an adult because of how expensive it is. I didn’t realize how much I missed it!
Latest TV Binge:
I haven’t been in much of a TV watching mood lately, for some reason. I did watch The End of the F***ing World on Netflix and loved it – it was like Wes Anderson meets murder mystery. It’s super quirky and dark but I’d recommend it.
Other than that I’ve just been watching episodes of The Great British Baking Show here and there, and keeping up with Modern Family and This Is Us. Nothing too exciting.
Latest Food Obsession:
Okay, so Colby got me Chrissy Teigan’s cookbook for Christmas and I am obsessed. I’ve only made three things from it so far, but every single one of them has been amazing. On Sunday night I made an eggplant baked ziti and no joke, it was probably the best thing I have ever personally cooked. I’m determined to try every recipe because I’m convinced they will all be incredible.
Just yesterday, I finally ordered a large print for our living room! I’ve spent months looking through my favorite print shops trying to figure out what to get, since it’s going to be a pretty main focal point and I didn’t want anything with too much color, but also nothing with too much black since our current couches are black. It was so hard and I’m so happy I finally found something. I’m not sharing it yet though, so you’ll have to wait and see!
As always, some blog posts I’ve loved lately!
Stepping Up My 2018 Reading Challenge / Scatterbrain I loved seeing Jae’s reading challenge for this year – and it put a few new books on my to-read list!
Deep Thoughts from 2017 / Erin Outdoors I loved the super motivating, simple action items Erin took from 2017.
